Stop. Hammer Time!
Ok, now that's stuck in your head, here's my Axis: the Harmonic Enforcer for my Convergence. Going to be honest, I picked him up mainly to complete my collection of the faction casters. I don't really have any idea how to use him in game, though he seems to be gaining in popularity with all the recursion he can do. His tier list allows you to bring 4 Enigma foundries instead of the usual two and they are one point less. You also can only use small base infantry in tier, so that means he can bring back 12 bodies a turn. I'm going to be looking into his lists in the future, but right now I'm focusing on Lucant. I just won another game with him last Wednesday and he seems to be a really solid caster.
Very happy with the way he turned out. One of my favorite models in the faction so far and he was a blast to paint.
I'm now out of models (and money) so until that changes I'll just be updating on how the new league is going at the Gopher.

Flat Con wrap up
Finished up my first Warmahordes tourney and feel pretty good about it. It showed me some tricks that I need to work on and showed me some of where the strengths of this army lie. It also showed me that there are just some lists out there that are bitches to beat and I'm gonna have to figure out how to get around them since I'll probably see them again. I ended up going 1-2 but could have gone 2-1 if it hadn't been for a couple of mistakes by me and some cheating by my opponent.
Game one:
Doom Reavers everywhere!!
I had no idea what to do against this. My Lucant list didn't have the bodies to hold him off and my Syntherion list didn't really have the firepower to deal with all those spread out models. I dropped Synth anyway and ended up losing on scenario. I would have lost by assassination as well, but he chose to win on scenario. This is one list I'm going to have to figure out a drop against as I'm sure I'll see it again. Maybe an Aurora list can do it.
Game two:
You can't shoot Cygnar, we shoot you!
My missed drop of the evening, but also my only win. I saw he was playing infantry heavy Cygnar and chose Synth due to the massive amounts of removal I can do. Wrong. My Lucant list would have been much better suited to this game. He was playing Stryker2 and just about everything I could shoot at him was negated or his armor was so high that I couldn't do anything. So, how did I win this one? Well, my opponent was an honest and straight up guy. He placed a template a good 6 inches further out than it should have been, completely screwing over my movement and changing the game significantly. The next turn he noticed what he did and what that caused and gave me the game by concession. Didn't want to win that way, but I'll take it. Also, thanks for being a up and up player.
Game three:
If I bring a colossal I win right?
Closest game of the night. If we hadn't decided to extend the round times to 90 minutes from 70 I would have timed him out. He brought a very nicely painted Mercs list that featured a Galleon as the centerpiece. I decided to drop my Lucant list as there were three flags to grab and my Synth list just couldn't do that. The game was pretty fun. I blew putting positive charge on my Inverter and that kept me from removing that one last Nyss hunter that was contesting the objective. In the end he killed my caster. There was a couple of moments of rampant cheating going on here though. I didn't have enough to call him on it, but he didn't take away his focus when he trampled with the Galleon and that cost me my TEP. Then later I swear he used too much focus to boost when he shouldn't have been able to. He was determined he was going to beat my list no matter what because he didn't like the way I was playing. Instead of asking what a unit did, or asking to see my cards, he just expected me to fully lay out what my army did. I have no problem asking what someones unit does how what effects it has, and if I don't know, I'll ask before I do anything to it. I also have no problem when people ask me those same questions, I'll gladly tell you. But don't get mad at me when you try to knock down a jack that is immune, but not ask before hand. That's not my job at the table. I'm not going to with hold info, but if you don't ask, I'm not telling.
So, there ya have it. Tourney one in the books. Overall it was a positive. I did walk away with the best in faction award for Convergence, so the night wasn't a total loss. I gotta learn to trust Lucant more since seeing wave after wave of models break over my guys was oddly satisfying. I'll for sure be looking at different angles in the game now too.
Group shot before the battle.

This Post is Just Going to Get in the Way
Well, here are pretty much my least favorite unit to paint so far. The Obstructors are the absolute base troops in the Convergence army and where you start out once you've decided to shed your fleshy body for a nice shiny metal one.
Overall they have kinda meh stats. DEF 12 ARM 14. Like the Reciprocators, they have shield wall which makes them ideal to take with each other. They compliment Lucant rather well and can help hold a zone. I typically use them to hold zones next to Lucant while the Recips go and hold another. With Enigma foundry back up, these guys are actually pretty hard to take off the table for good. So play wise they're great, in the right circumstances. Painting, well, that's another story.
I didn't enjoy painting these guys at all. I'm not sure what it was, maybe the fact they were the first large unit I've painted in a while. Like a long while. I haven't painted a "unit" since my last Wraithguard unit and that was just 5 guys. Part of the problem is the model. They're just so uninspiring. Everything else in this army has this cool look about them and I just don't get that from these guys. Hopefully that doesn't reflect on how they perform on the field. I've already had good luck with them, so there's that.

New look
My regular visitors to my blog (all like 5 of you) Might notice I've changed things up a bit. I haven't done a refresh of my page since it's inception. Seeing how the old blog kinda, sorta matched my Eldar paint scheme, I decided to update it to my current interests. So, welcome to the home of the Maiden of the Gears.
Little bit of Give and Take
So I'm finally done painting my armies for the FlatCon Steamroller event on the 24th and I've got time to post again since I'm not picking a brush up again anytime soon.
First up, my Reciprocators. These guys are the second stop on the Convergence clockwork body train. Only after being an Obstructor do you get to move up the ranks so to speak. They're good solid models with a nice stat line. 8 boxes, DEF 12 and ARM 16. They also have Shield wall which bumps them up to ARM 20 and a variable weapon that's either Set Defense (which effectively puts them at ARM 22 on a charge) or empowered which makes their weapons P+S 14. These guys were built to hold a zone. Under Lucant's feat they become even better at ARM 24 (26 against the charge and ranged weapons). I really like these guys and would like to take more if I ever step Lucant up to 50. Anyway, here's the unit.

I didn't take the normal 4 pose pics that I usually do since these guys are pretty boring in the back. Most of the important stuff is the shield and axe/polearm.

Tourney prep Game 2
So my tourney journey continues. Got another game in at the Gopher this past Wednesday. This time against the evil of the Skorne Empire.
My list:
Syntherion
Assimilator
Cipher
Diffuser
Mitigator
Corollary
Galvanizer
TEP
Attunement Servitors
ADO
Optifex Directive
His list:
eMakeda and the Exalted Court
Molik Karn
Tyrant Zaadesh
2x Cyclops Brute
2x Paingivers
Gatorman Posse
I dropped Syntherion since I think he has the better matchup vs Skorne. After the game, I don't think my Lucant list would have done as well.
Again, not going to assail you with a full batrep since this one went pretty quick. He lost the roll off and I went second as is my custom with Synth (Lucant likes to go first) First turn consisted of a bunch of running from both sides. Second turn he moved up his warlock into the zone on my right and moved his gatorman posse into the zone on my left. A few attacks later and my attunement servitors were gone. My second turn was a lot more interesting. He had left himself in a vulnerable position because of the mandatory kill box positioning. So, I had a choice. Go for the assassination on turn 2, or play out the scenario and try to win that way. If you've read this blog enough or know me in person you can guess what I did. I had to activate Synth first and use his feat. Assimilator charges and hits Makeda with his ranged attack doing a few, Cipher charges and again shoots her for a few, then the TEP activates and drops her even more. By the time all was said and done she was left with only 9 boxes left. The bad news? I had left myself highly over extended and that would cost me. His turn three saw the TEP, my Cipher and the Assimilator all die. The Assimilator did have reconstruct though and was able to stick around. My turn three, the Assimilator gets healed to almost full again and Synth casts hotshot on him. I move over, take the shot and BOOM! Makeda is gone. He couldn't transfer damage on account of Karn being full of fury or something like that. It was a good win.
What did I learn from this one? Well, like I had feared, Syntherion is MUCH harder on the clock than Lucant. I needed the 5 minute extension on turn 2 just to get the TEP's firing done. Second, it's going to be really tough on me choosing the right list. I'm use to having just one from playing 40k and if you had a bad matchup, well, then you took your lumps and that was that. Having dual lists and specialists to boot changes the dynamic in a huge way. Third, I may be switching out my attunement servitors for reflex servitors. Flare is good when it works, but more often than not people go right after them and I may get one use out of them. It's much more point cost effective to have a bomb that's gonna blow up in their faces than a flare gun I may or may not get to use. It's looking like that's all the play testing I'm going to get in before the tourney so we'll see how it goes. The clock seems to be a great equalizer in the way the game is played and it all comes down to mistakes.
Painting wise, I'm almost done! All the obstructors are done, both Enigma foundries are done and my converted Inverter is done. All that's left is my second Inverter and hopefully that'll be here Tuesday and I can get it finished before Saturday. Gonna try and get pics of the new stuff up later tonight.

Tourney prep Game 1
Decided to throw my inexperienced hat into the tourney scene and enter in the FlatCon steamroller event at the end of October. Working to that end, I decided to throw down a test game last night. Here's a re-cap
My list
Lucant
Corollary
Invertor
Invertor
Max Reciprocators
Min Obstructors
Optifex Directive
2x Enigma Foundry
Objective: Arcane Wonder
His list
eVyros
4x Griffon
Imperatus
2x Arcanist
Min Dawnguard Sentinels with Sentinel officer and Standard
Lanyssa Ryssyl
Objective: Fuel Dump
We played the Recon scenario and he won to go first. I deployed knowing that I was going to try and jam the zone in the middle and then shift Lucant and his battle group over to the right hand flag to dominate it. He had deployed heavier to his right and that helped determine the direction I would go.
I don't really feel like giving a full battle report but let's just say seven minutes, is not as long as you might think. I made a couple of huge mistakes but the most costly was not activating watcher at the right time. Had I done that, I could have saved one of my Invertors and killed Imperatus quicker than I did (stupid Phoenix protocol) I then could have shifted over to the center zone and either jammed it up or helped to clear it.
It definitely taught me a lot even though it was a loss. I figure I can get two more games in before the big show and then we'll see how it goes.
On the painting front, I'm finishing up my Obstructors and then all I'll have left is my other Enigma Foundry and a couple of Invertors. So no worries here about finishing the painting before the tourney. I'll try to get some pics up of the Reciprocators too.
